Just saying hi, and thanks to V123 for a terrific idea! You've made it work very well, and I know it must be very difficult, particularly in dealing with talents and clients on a world wide basis.
From when I started my own membership with V123 the only thing that has bugged me has been the lack of understanding that there is whole wide world other than the USA, and as with many many projects and services on the internet that are American run, there seemed to be a focus on the USA, clients obviously seeking American accent talents but not saying it and so on. As a talent based in the UK it has been very frustrating answering leads only to discover time and time again that the client wanted an American accent - but didn't actually say it. Sorry if this sounds like an insult to Americans, but you guys are not taught to appreciate that planet Earth consists of much more than the USA! Time you knew it. The internet is an international market-place and playground, it is worldwide. So, it's not just V123 but most Americans who have such a huge and self-sustaining country that they do not need to know about the rest of the world much less care about it who are plagued with this problem. I see this all over the internet on fourms, business websites and so on all idiotically focused on communicating with Americans only, when they could be selling to the whole world (and probably are anyway). Well here is the rest of the worl and we're just waiting to make friends with you!
For a while V123 started to actually state on the leads whether the client wanted a British, American or French accent e.g. but this seems to have stopped - why?
Bernie.

Hi everyone:
I tend to agree with Bernie (see quote below), but when it comes to accents, you are not alone.
You will find the same thing with Spanish talents. Most people in the USA think about Spanish as "mexican" only, and quite frankly, there' s alot more than that in the Spanish speaking market.
I hope this will change with the time.
Rubén

Hello guys,
We know Voice123 is doing a lot of marketing efforts to drive the attention of clients world wide and this way meet the expectations of all talents on the site (not only USA). The good news are that Voice123 is doing some major changes on to the site’s structure and tools, these changes will reflect on a much better filtering system allowing the clients and the talents to choose more specifics and be more selective on the auditions requests, resulting on less talents replying to single leads and therefore higher chances of landing gigs though the website.
We should see all of these improvements soon.
PS// you are right, we’ll probably end up creating only a feedback forum.
Thank you  |

Thanks Freddie, you guys at V123 have a great opportunity to also educate the rest of the American population by informing them that, outside America, there is no such thing as a "British accent" - it simply does not exist. Britain http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Britain is made up primarily of 4 nations: England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales (OK I'm using a little license by including Ireland, but we generally consider Ireland included). Each British country has its own unique accent: English, which is quite different to Scottish, which is completely different to Welsh, and Irish. When you Americans bunch us all together and use the term "British accent" it is meaningless and insulting, it simply does not exist. If you mean "Standard English Accent" then please use this term. By contnuing to use the term "British accent" you demonstrate that you are serving mainly American clients |

Thank you Bernie! If you were to catalog the different types of English accent based on countries or major regions, how would you do it? We could definitely use your feedback for future improvements. |

OK Alex, well even within the seprate countries in Britain there are regional differences, just as the world is familiar with the difference between the New York and Texas accent for instance, but I think the following breakdown would be the most helpful:
English
* Standard English (accent)
* Northern English
* Midlands English
* West Country English
* London Cockney
Scottish
Some would say that there are many regional differences but to the international ear these differences are very subtle and any Scot can do it.
Welsh
As above.
Irish
* Northern Irish
* Southern Irish
I'm pretty good with the Standard English and being a Londoner, the Cockney accents
Hope it helps,
Bernie. |

Thank you Bernie,
We really appreciate all your feedback, for a fact we’ll forward this information on to Voice123´s development department.
PS/ regarding the picture, the site should be showing the same one you have under your Voice123 account, let me check why it is not showing. Will get back to you on that. |

Hello Barnie,
Thank you very much for that incredible feedback. It is useful indeed.
I completely understand the feeling and see your point.
For specific accents we have had the keywords included in "Expanded Voice Description" of your profiles but we may need to go on revaluating that.
You are very right in what you say and we'll put our hands on that right now
About that list you provided us with it is great.
Thank you!!

Bernie, your picture is showing now on the forums, looks like the issue was related to having an account as a talent and a client’s one at the same time, it was corrected.
