Pharma Audio Book read...not opened yet.
University TV Spot - changed the copy on this one to make it conversational - and did two takes - one much more conversational. Opened - no rating.

You have such a warm, natural-sounding voice...by that, I mean it doesn't sound like you're within a mile of a script! I'm in awe of your abilities!!

Those were mesmerizing, Connie....
The pharmaceutical was especially impressive in that you conveyed a not-quite-haughty knowledge that you knew more than the listener. Maggie's was solid, but your rock-solid confident delivery wins that round. Kudos.
And listening to Thom, Maggie, Sid, Colin, Connie et al, I'm again struck by the chore facing the Seekers.
The posts here represent but 10% of the auds submitted by a silent and talented cadre out there.....
Imagine.

Don' ask about "ratings" as it just brings people down.

I got 4 stars. (I'm guessing Rajiv got 5.)

It's Saturday.... I just got done helping my 89 year young mom with some chores around her house, I'm back home chillin' out before the closing performance of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" (my directorial debut) and am enjoying vegging out on this forum. Thought I'd FINALLY return the favors and post my thoughts as I savor the phantasmic array of talent that permeates the pores of this board.
Connie: First of all, you're right about too many similar takes on the camera audition. I should have thought of that, but sometimes we need someone to remind us of it. And as far as your pharma and university reads.... you're a goddess. I simply do NOT think it's possible to sound more natural, real and sincere than you do when you deliver spots like that. That's why you are where you are, and why we all have to shade our eyes when we look up to you!
Colin: Your non-announcer Funjet read is really, really, REALLY good! It's often hard to get past your beautifully rich and deep and perfect tones to NOT think of an announcer. But the delivery was something that I don't think you could have pulled off a year ago and now you're winging it with ease.
Ron: Good leprechaun although he did sound a bit sauced!
(BTW, my 14 year old son is in the room and upon hearing pretty much all of the leprechaun reads he just chuckled and said "That's so stupid!" LOL!)
Maggie: I don't know what the lead stipulated for Hips & Curves, but if they were asking for a middle-eastern female, I think you nailed it on the first read. Like me, however, with my southern roots creeping back into the Yiddish read, you strayed just a bit during the second read.
Thom, Thom, Thom... when I grow up, I want to be you. I mean it. Your voice is always like a soft fuzzy blanket wrapping around you. Warm and sincere without being contrived or phony. You're everyone's grandpappy or favorite uncle.
Brad: VERY funny, if just a few degrees off of the Keebler elves accents. Note, though, that I do NOT answer leads for dialects since I flat out CAN'T DO 'EM.... so any criticism from me ain't worth the paper it's written on.
Lee - also well done, but I'm not totally sure I bought it as a leprechaun. A funny character, yes... leprechaun... mmmm... not sure....
Oh and you guys digressed into ratings. Last night I submitted for an 'investor relations' read and within about 10 minutes the client had opened the script and rated me 5, which blew me away. This morning he e-mailed me telling me I had the job. Great way to wrap up the week!

Appreciate all the nice words - and I agree with Robert about the quality.
The people who post here are just a few of the people submitting and if we aren't getting the gigs, then I REALLY want to hear the work of those who do. Although, since it is still to a large degree subjective, we may still end up scratching our heads...

Nope. I can't believe it. His was clearly more leprechaun-y than mine.

OK, this is the third different post in which I've mentioned it, but I'm still steaming. I got a frackin' 1-star for that audition.
