So had to bring this to life again for those who missed it first time. After being inundated with those darn calls the past few weeks, decided on taking a refresher course on how to handle the Tele-marketer call.
Just cracks me up every time

Lynn, thanks for pulling this thread up to the top of the heap. I didnt hear it the first time and laughed my butt off this time around.
Telemarketing phone calls are the worst. As a rule for anyone: don't attempt to start your VO careeer as a telemarketer. Maybe in high school it helps, but when you reach your mid 20's and beyond, forget about it!
Thanks for the laugh!!

Tom Mabe used to live in my hometown. He's been doing this schtick for a long time. It's really funny stuff. I'm a big fan.
Let me raise a point just for fun.
If you listen closely, the guy he's talking to sounds like an actor. A couple of his reactions sound rehearsed and a little unnatural.
Plus, Tom's performance is pretty studied. I think what we have here is a very funny piece of planned comedy, not a "chance" call.
Tom's earlier stuff was the real thing, but I'll bet some legal issues came up and he had to go the scripted route.
Don Imus had to do this back in the 70's. If you happen to hear his first (and only?) comedy album, it's full of what seem to be on-air calls to unwitting recipients, but if you turn on your skeptical ear, you'll hear some very fine actors.
Maybe I'm pointing out the obvious or maybe I'm all wrong. Tom Mabe would be the first to set me straight. He chewed me out once for mispronouncing his name.
