My friend Scott Kahler just got his first job from Voices. It was the River Hills Golf a lot of us tried. I'm posting here on his behalf. I thought since many of us tried for two different leads from these people, you might want to hear the winning audition...

I have auditioned for maybe a half dozen golf course spots from that same producer and now I finally have an idea what they were looking for. Your friend did a nice job -- and it doesn't hurt that he sounds a bit like Vern Lundquist.

Congrats to Scott! He sounds like a mini Colin Campbell to me.

I seldom ever even audition on Voices anymore. I think I've landed ONE job there in a year. My ratio of hits is so much better here. And I'm eternally frustrated by not knowing how many auditions a lead gets over there or if yours is ever heard.

But it's nice to know that SOMEONE is getting them!

Vern Lundquist is one of the commentators on the CBS golf broadcast team, although he probably does more NCAA football than golf these days. (They do call him in to do golf coverage at the Masters, where Gary McCord is personna no grata.)

I am new, and naturally don't want to spend money in the wrong place. It seems Sovoa is the preferred site??
I haven't paid the premium as yet but getting ready.

I'm afraid you will almost certainly be spending your money in the wrong place if you attempt to sign up with SAVOA at this juncture in your career. As you stated in another post, you are a newbie, just thinking about getting into the world of voiceovers.

SAVOA is intended to help voice seekers differentiate the seasoned pros from the rookies (even the ones who show some potential) by limiting its membership to those who have some experience under their belts.

As your voiceover career progresses you may very well become a worthy candidate for SAVOA, but probably not today.

Thanks for the advise. I hadn't looked into it before my post. I had only read the comments in here and thought it was a similar site.
I will earn my way in there after I got through the ranks.
I do have 20 years experience as a mobile jock as well. Very Happy

I think voices-com is a good place to start at the $99/year level it's not much of an investment and gives you good opportunities to practice. Hopefully you will at least make back the $99 in a year.

I will definately check that out. I did already booked a gig about 1 hour ago for a couple hundred- all done through "word of mouth" so to speak.
It came via a VO friend, who has been capitalizing on the video games market, and is the "radio" voice of "top hits 100" on a couple of the play station auto race and chase games. I have also been contacting places to lay down my "quality" demo and think I landed on a good package.
I did do a voiceover for a website, I have used ( with permission)as my sample demo here -www.yourdogsbusiness.com. Although it is a little sloppy, that was how I was asked to present it and it works!
As my mobile talent of performing at weddings,parties, corporate events etc: was frowned upon by radio jocks, my "luck" landing 2 acting gigs without hesitation has caused a bit of chatter among the veteran actors/ auditioners who did not get the jobs, I do expect to a slight bit of negativity amongst the veterans here as well, and having looked and reviewed the talent at the " earn your right to be here" club, I can fully understand.
Although radio was always a fantasy for me, I could never work within the payscale thus I never persued it.
