This is where I'll put a few before and after clips of some of my coaching students who give me permission to post their stuff. Granted, most are still a work in progress but these clips will give you an idea of how I can help you use your most natural voice.

I don't teach acting per se, but how to use your real voice. (See the thread "Coaching - Let Me Have A Look.) Then as you cut your demos, you'll sound more natural. When and if you do take acting classes with a coach who specializes in that, you'll make progress more quickly.

My first example is Scott Paxton. Here is his eLearning take before and after.

Wow ... sure that is the same person? No really, what an amazing transformation. It's like night and day. To me, he sounds a bit more 'natural' and less 'forced'.
Great work you two.

Huge, HUGE improvement - and I recognize that voice.

The talent went from artificially forcing an unreal delivery to relaxing and presenting the script within his comfort zone. Very well done... both of you!

Thank you JJ and Thank you Scott. That means more than you know.

And Phyllis, I can't Thank You enough for allowing me to see (and eventually hear) what I was doing and needed to do. You have an incredible gift.

BTW....where is JJ's before and after?

As folks come into the forum and post comments, I'll wait until most have had a chance to talk about yours. Then JJ's is next. Though I might send another one of yours, before and after. I picked this elearning one because it was the exact same copy. The other one will be a little different.

To show Scott's change in another venue, here is a before and after from a hard sell to a soft sell. While these are different types of reads, it shows how much better he sounds when he uses his voice more naturally.

Comments?

He's gone from shrill to someone you can actually enjoy listening to...
Great transformation.

Scott, I'm sure you know this will make a huge difference for you professionally.

Great work both of you!

Thank You Hanneen,
I beginning to update my demos and have seen a drastic change in the ratings I have received in my Voice123 auditions. I have gone from 2-3 stars to 4-5 stars. I believe coaching with Phyllis will take me places I wouldn't have reached without her coaching.

Here is JJ's before and after. Again, tons of radio experience and he wanted to shake off whatever it was that was holding him back. JJ's voice is a true "rumbler" voice, deep, rich and resonant. But he was keeping his voice down too low and not flexing it - everything was done at the same low level and it sounded pressured and lacked the "fun" and life I saw it could have.

JJ and I had a session where I told him to go waaaay back as far as he could and reach waaaaay down deep. A few days later he sent me an audition piece where he did all three voices and I was just flat amazed - he'd taken my advice and really ran with it!

The before snippet is a standard "radio" spot, and the after snippet is a whole different thing!

That is an amazing. WOW!

I had a sneak peek a few weeks ago and didn't even know it was the same person. So relaxed and real.

Phyllis, you are amazing.

I'm utterly amazed at the difference!
Phyllis, I've heard nothing but positive things about your coaching and this is proof of that.

Scott & JJ: You have made a complete turnaround. Awesome!

I am a believer in Phyllis now too! I contacted her a few days ago and did a quick dry read for her. She listened and picked up on a few things that I wasn't aware of. She even described how I'm positioning myself in front of the mic just by listening, and she was right.

I plan on working with Phyllis in the very near future. She has this sense that is hard to describe, but it works.

Plus, she is really nice and that's always a good thing.

Before this thread began, I posted Marilyn Taylor's before and after on the Coaching - Let Me Have A Look thread. Some may have missed it and she did such a good job, I am re-posting it here. Enjoy!
