I just got the Cookin' on your Range invitation and I'm now more convinced than ever that I've seen it before. I even remembered the typo (they used "image" where they should have said "imagine"). This lead was so long ago it pre-dates SmartCast. It was from the time when all the leads had ***** where the identifying words appeared so this particular lead had so much of it missing that it barely made sense.

what do you do with a word like "culinary" that has three possible pronunciations?
ˈkə-lə-ˌner-ē, ˈkyü-, ˌkü-
Just go with what feels right, or anticipate what the client might want?
I always thought it was kyu.

I know you weren't going for funny....but, I listened to the whole thing and laughed so much I thought I was going to hurt myself.
Nothing personal, but doing Jack Nicholson, frankly, doesn't even work for Jack Nicholson anymore!
thank you, Simon!
edited because I can't spell when sleepy and/or laughing...

James,
Having been bitten in the ass before by that word I suggest that you go with CUL-in-airy. Like the "cul" in cul de sac. I've gone with the "correct" KEWL-in-airy before and was slapped down by the people in the hospitality industry.
For what it's worth, the most common way it's pronounced on the Food Network is CUL-in-airy. Good luck.

Oh well, see what happens.

I agree with Allen. I would go with "KULL-ih-nary."
Here in Connecticut we have two major culinary schools that regularly advertise on TV. One of them pronounces it "CUE-lih-nary" and it drives me batty.

This is the "..." audition I submitted. They rated me a 4 (avg 3.5). It's the first time I've put any music under a read for an audition, and they emailed me for an additional read. Hmm... maybe there is something to the theory that it's okay to do a little production...We'll see if they still want me after my second submission...
Anybody else get a bite on this one?
