Man, it's like - where do you begin? I'm new to not only the forum but to this line of work as a whole. I am, however, glad that this forum has been birthed and can be a great potential resource of help to all those members. I am also grateful that as 'green' slash as I am that I was able to get the DVD they offered the other day to show me the 'ropes', hangman well maybe not that rope but you know what I mean Laughing - so I'm really looking forward to seeing that.

See yall around the sound waves! Dancing

Welcome Wally,

This sponsored site by Voice123 was conceived with the idea of having a place in which to communicate in a more active way, where you can participate in open discussions, submit your inquiries, ask technical questions, suggest new ideas, get critique and feedback on your profile and demos, look for help and help others, find new information related to the industry or just share your mind.

We really want voice over Savvy Forum to be a gathering tool for the voice over community and a great resource for you.
We are hoping to see you around.

PS/ The DVD you ordered is great, loved it.

What DVD?

Also... Alex, you mentioned that you're working on reducing the number of auditions that talent seekers will receive-thereby reducing the number who close auditions early. How will you do that without reducing the number of auditions we can submit? If it's first come first serve, you'll get everyone who has nothing to do but sit at the computer all day submitting auditions... while some of us are in the studio every day doing VO!

Thanks

Yes. I am certainly not complaining! Just curious how they're going to handle having fewer auditions submitted per job! Smile

Actually... [ SECRET ] I hate it when they ask for custom demos (because by the tiem they're done, a job can be c losed!) but I have someone else do my voice123 submissions for me when I get too busy!

Have a great night, Chip!

I was wondering the same thing, Julie. I have a day job and don't get at all the jobs until late in the day. By that time there are over 150 auditions and you wonder, "Is it worth doing the custom demo this late in the game?"

It IS worth it, Gary... no matter how many others have auditioned. Many times I've submitted late in day and gotten the job. I've submitted demos when they've said they needed customs (because I was not in studio at the time I was submitting) and I've also been told that I was chosen out of about 200 people...

So you may not think it's worth it to submit when so many have... but they want the RIGHT voice for their project.

Don't worry, Gary, I'll save a job or two for you! Wink

To me, the most frustrating thing is when the client closes the auditions early-- when you've taken the time to do their custom demo and haven't had the chance to submit it yet!

I've thought of having a site like this on voice-overs.com, and I would definitely require them to hold auditions open till the deadline. (Of course, you can't stop clients from hiring someone before the deadline!!!)

Have a blessed night!
Julie

Hello Everyone,

Allow me to give you a few more details regarding the new ¨Voice123 SmartCast". This system was designed thinking on providing a higher quality auditions for clients, less talents auditioning for the same lead and at the same time increase the chances of the site’s return for talents.

Basically the system will have a more specific way to filter talents for specific jobs, this will be done on a personal basis, meaning that the systems will take on to consideration factors like: voice specifics, quality of demos, feedback from clients, ranking, budget, type of job, etc.

This way the system will choose the talents according with the amount of auditions the client is requesting.

Of course you’ll probably won’t be getting the same number of leads you are getting now, but the ones you receive will be more specific for your voice and requirements, also there won’t be as many talents auditioning for the same job.

One thing to keep in mind is the fact that clients will still have the capability of stopping postings at any time, we believe this will not be a problem in the future due to them being able to choose how many talents they want to audition, and those being more specific for their needs.

Hope this makes sense. We should see these very soon and we will be providing more information and tips.

THanks Freddie,

I have to admit, I am a little skeptical about the new filtering system. I guess i just need to wait and see howit turns out.

Too bad I missed Harlan's DVD. HIs book was awesome. He's an incredible talent!

THanks for all you do.

Julie

PS Would you email me? I have something I want to ask you...but not on forum.

Sorry for my delay replying back to you. Coincidentally, I have been really busy working on Voice123 SmartCast.

Although you may get less invitations to audition than before, Voice123 SmartCast will help talents that are picky. In other words, if you are selective in reference to what projects you submit auditions and proposals to, Voice123 SmartCast will send you more invitations. Why? Because we know that you won't answer back to everything. You are submitting auditions or proposals only to the projects where you think you are good at.

Would you mind sharing with us why you are skeptical about it? Maybe we can address your concerns right away.

Thank you!

Personally, I don't see that much of a downside to SmartCast right now. I keep wondering why I'll get a lead for a Filipino speaking female or to do location work in Des Moines... stuff like that. It doesn't happen a lot, but I do trash one or two leads every day that don't even come close to the parameters I laid down.

Interesting. Just don't automate it too much, the site still has the human touch.
