Aaron....Every job is different. I'm a song writer and most of the time I have to write it and add harmonies. I used to play the organ, but it broke years ago. I have a keyboard, but it is a cheap christmas present from Wallmart and you can't plug it into the the computer. I lose jingle jobs to people who have really good keyboards and really good keyboard skills.

I do not suggest going to the trouble and expense of creating a jingle demo unless you can do more than one thing. I'm even thinking about taking a piano class at the local college. I would rather sing, but there are people who do both. Also if you don't know how to create a harmony to something....forget it. The competition is tough and people are more picky about music than they are about voice over. Every second has to perfect. It's math and science... as well as art.

If your just great at singing.....That's not good enough.....If you play and your an ok singer....that's not good enough either.

Haha. It's more like I'm a great singer and I play...eh...sort of. I play guitar well, piano and I aren't the best of friends. I do sight sing very well, and can create great harmonies. But I've heard the real difficulty in getting into jingles in studios (meaning outside of online) is that you really have to know people that already do it on a regular basis...and so far, I do not.

I'm doing a little session work later this month, and it might turn into a regular thing, so I'll keep my fingers crossed and ear to the grindstone I suppose.

You sounded GREAT on that recording by the way.

AA

Deby:

Sorry that jingle gig didn't work out as expected. I hope the reason given to you was honest and legit. All the best for the rest of the project as it unfolds.

Congratulations on that other job!
I know you can't tell me but I'm guessing it's either Betty Boop or Olive Oyl.

Hmm..... let's see. Powerful, sensual, and apparently feline..

Well, I know it's not Top Cat, Garfield or Felix.

Without naming names, might it be one of the Caped Crusader's arch-enemies? Wink

Patience is a virtue.

I found out the carpet company decided to use a male singer on a different jingle the guitar player had written.
