I promised everybody I'd post, so here it is.....

Wednesday November 21, 2007, I respond to a lead for a tag on a corporate presentation. Just a 7 second line, pays $100. Weird thing about it, it was in Spanish! How did I get a Spanish lead? Turned out the seeker was from Spain and looking for a North American English voice. I brought the text to a Google site that translates mosts languages into another as you specify. So now I knew what I had to read.

I was 0 for my first 40 auditions so Why Not? Sent it in.

Next day, Thanksgiving. A houseful of company coming over. About 10:30 I check e-mail. It's from Madrid, I won the audition! Not only that, they now want me for a two page $300 job!
Woo-Hoo!! High as a kite on my first win. I e-mail back, thanks, I'll put this together for you first thing Friday morning, I have company here all day today.....

.....check e-mail again at 2:30, Sorry David, my boss needs this done today.... (remember, there is no Thanksgiving Day in Spain).... but I'll keep you in mind for other things down the road. Well, my kite crashed pretty hard.

Since that time I had gotten a couple of e-mails from some other seekers in resonse to auditions but no jobs. I also kept in touch with Madrid via e-mail just to say Hi and keep my name in there.

Early this past Sunday morning, Madrid e-mails a request from a different company for a two page corporate presentation (not via Voice123) pays $280 but "it has to be done by Monday morning" I e-mail back 'no problem, I'll get on it at 11:00AM Eastern' (I was scheduled to read at mass that morning!) I get back from church and go right to work on it and....

Lo and Behold..... Ladies and Gentlemen of Savvydom.....

My First Gig!

Dancing

So Cool....

That's great, David. Congrats.

See, it's all because you went to Mass!
Wink
(from a former Catholic who actually was an altar boy at High Masses! LOVED that incense!)

Deby:

While I'll can't dance like Ricky Martin, I'm perfectly happy to be Livin' La Vida Loca! irre

Tom, Diane, John:

'Gracias' is about all I can muster from two years of high school Spanish, along with "Un senorita bonita" (referring to the teacher)

Scott:

Thanks! Yeah, I love the incense too, except when I'm doing the readings and I start to CHOKE!
