Yeah, Erik, Turkey beat Kahzikstan in the 43-man Squamish semi-finals, 76-4.

I don't really have any leads to post here, but I just got done voicing and mixing this for the local radio station, fer what it's worth...

Scott:

Ya know, I was so into the Super Bowl game last night, I forgot all about the Team Turkey game. Thanks for posting the final score, my local paper doesn't usually cover them. (I knew I should have taken the Under)

Wow -- 43-man squamish! I love that game. Wink

I guess I can get the L&R ball rolling with one I did last week for a seeker who wanted six different voices to represent six various beverage flavors. Here are his specs:
1. Mediterranean accent – the seductive tone and timbre of Julio Iglesias
2. Deep and velvety smooth like Barry White
3. The charming, debonair British man – like James Bond
4. Deep, intense, romantic whisper – like a loving Clint Eastwood
5. Steamy, slithery Latin accent
6. Romantic French accent, like Pepe Le Pew

I know that, side by side, it is pretty clear that all six voices could have been done by the same person but this was not an all-or-nothing deal. He was paying per character and you could audition for as few or as many as you wished, so I did them all.

I might as well toss this one out there, as well. I know a lot of you automatically turn way from leads that do not specify a budget. And this one had the added complication that the seeker did not have an actual piece of copy, just a video with music and some slides with very basic captions. But he was asking for prices for both copywriting and narration, so I wrote about a minute's worth, mixed it with his music, and told him how much it would cost for the writing and the reading.

Lee, I too saw that lead and answered it. I didn't see any captions so I was describing the property without any knowledge other than the pics....here's what I came up with...I'd be really interested to know what your quote was....I had no idea and think I may have gone too low, but if it's a reoccuring gig it would be worth it.

Marilyn -- Very nice. I'm pretty sure the reason I saw captions and you didn't was that we were describing different houses. I'm guessing the men got one link and the women got another. You didn't ask for a critique or copywriting tips, but I might be inclined to either cut back on the number of times you start a sentence with "Imagine," or, alternatively, put even more emphasis on the word each time you use it by pausing a bit after each instance before proceeding with what follows. In that way, it's like giving a list of bullet points with the word "Imagine" acting as the bullets.

I quoted $125 for the copywriting and $250 for the narration for a presentation up to five minutes, and another $50 for writing and $100 for reading for each additional five minutes. That's despite the fact that the writing probably takes more time and effort than the reading.

Thanks Lee, your quote seems right on and is close to what I put but I quoted for one minute rather thatn 5...
It was hard doing this in the one hour time frame...after I clicked the 'start submission process' button I realilzed I had to find a website, view the video and then write the copy...and then record, edit and send it...oh the preasure...I think with more time and practice I could do a really good job. I hope I get this one! I like the idea of regular work...I'm tired of being irregular Laughing

I don't post here much anymore, but I check in everyday for updates on issues and thoughts from the pro's of the palatial palace.

Just thought I would make a shameless plug for an internet station I do promo's for. KC Tunes.com a classic rock internet site. Verne Elliott owner of the site is going to start a concert series. The first one is for all you Eagles lovers. It is the Eagles Live album/cd played in it's entirety, in order, uniteruppted.

Here is the coming soon promo.

Also go to the site to have a vote in what concert will play next. Currently it's neck and neck between Phil Collins-Serious Hits Live and Kansas-Live At The Whiskey.

Check it out its a great site for classic rock.

Got 5 stars on this, average 4.2.

Just realized it's a very "stealable" spot. Only problem is it is a minute and 20. They'd have to edit somehow.

Oh well.

Phil Collins and classic rock in the same sentence?
Isn't that a bit like virginity and Hugh Hefner?

Nevertheless, it's book-marked, Craig. Nice to hear you, and from you.
I'll be there just as soon as there's a Deep Purple - Led Zeppelin showdown.

Scott:

Fine job on the US Window Factory spot. Hopefully you can help them out with their regular commercials, too. They could do much better.

Colin:

Nice production on the Big Screen TV thing. A '5' all the way. 1:20 for a :60 spot? No problem, just run that 331/3 at 45RPM and you'll have it

Lee and Marilyn:

I'm in there with you on the Real Estate reads. Interesting project. I did pretty well with the presentation but my copy was a tad weak. I think they're looking for several regulars, so we all have a chance, but Marilyn may have a professional edge Wink

Lee, you're a one-man tour of Europe with those beverages!

Here's a couple of quickies, one for a real estate developer (anti-rent message) and a Jimmy Carter impression. In case there is a bit too much reverb for you:

"...and to see that our Bicentennial celebration and our Bicentennial convention has been one of decorum and order, without any fights or free-for-alls, among Democrats , that could happen only once every 200 years"

Thanks David.

I don't see much point to posting on here lately but here's one. I swear I've done this same copy in the past.
