Lately I have had many male VO talents ask me to slate for them. One of them helped me land my biggest gig ever. It was not a V123 gig. Which was a good thing because Maggie would have been tough competition for this one.
I basically did a tour guide read for a business center in the French Caribbean. It's actually too large to post. Anyway you just never know where the next job will come from!

Deby, I'm so happy about your continued success here. This sounds like a very fun gig and one well-suited to your voice. We all seem to be carving or discovering our niches, and you seem to be settling into yours and it's paying off. Congrats! I know we'd all love to hear it. If it's too large, can you post a link to it? Or post a downsized snippet from it?
Way to go!!!

I'm very proud to have you slate my demo Deby. I hope that I can return the favor in some way--drum tracks, harmonies, dialogue, etc.
It's always good to see you keeping busy. Can't wait to hear more from you.
How do you say Cheers in French?
Cameron

Scott,
It is very ironic that you talk about me carving out a niche. I recently got into an argument with a friend of mine of how best to market my talents. This person said that I really hadn't found my money voice yet. He then proceeded to ask me "well what do you want to do most, cartoons, jingles, commercials?" I said yes all the above. He then pointed out that nobody is going to know which box to put me in.
There's a part of me that knows he's right and then there is the rebellious part of me that says why can't I just be in many boxes.....why do I have to chose? I used to go through the same crap when I did on camera stuff. "Which are you better at....comedy or drama?" "Hmmm? I can't decide if we should put you in the adult section of our agency or the teenage section." You would think that being versatile would be an asset as an actress.....unfortunately I keep finding that it just confuses people!!! It's been such an issue lately that I just want to scream!
Well atleast I'm still gettting work.....here's a small portion of the job.

Nice job, Deby!
And by the way: YOU can absolutely do everything! Find your money voice, and use it in commercials, corporate, radio etc...
Why not?!
I do a bit of everything, have always done, it's fun and it's what keeps me in work because there is always a job going!
I do corporate, IVR, Commercials, jingles, animation, toys (children) and I believe it's never confused anyone. What ever the job, they know they can call me in and I'll adapt.
By the way, apart from the children/character voices, I use the same voice for all jobs, the one I call my money voice (but different delivery style). Basically it's the voice I get hired for. Maybe you have already found your money voice, only you can tell. But it seems to me that you are working quite a lot, so my guess is that you know what it is, you just need to refine it, develop it, like all of us.
You are a creative person, do everything you like, feel inspired by and you'll be successful! Don't raise barriers where there aren't any, the world is yours to take if you want it!

I love you Claire! ....I so needed to hear that.
David....Well in Texas there really are cows on the way to the beach.....Here in CT....not so much....Although I do know how to get to the mall on the way to the Beach in Milford.....
Yeah I know.....most people are like.....Oh great a mall rat that loves ABBA.....but I can't help it that's who I am.....I love romantic comedies too....(I guess this why I don't get invited to any super bowl parties)
