Simon, I liked your cats eye. Part of the thing with that project was first they asked the voice talents to look at the storyboard and come up with a voice. The cat had a big barrel chest, and lots of people came up with deep voices.

So the voice seeker entered a second project seeking a higher pitched voice.

Then the voice seeker entered a third project revealing that they wanted a NY accent, and high or low pitched voices.

I enjoyed hearing other takes on this one.

Hi again, all!

This is a neat forum! I've been on V123 for quite awhile, but only stumbled on this section last night. I WISH I had been hearing your auditions all along. Definitely nice to hear what others are doing on the same leads. Loved all of them, but had a few thoughts, in no particular order:

Deby -- Love the Hershey's Museum one, with the characters and the Parrot! Very good job. Don't recall if you said you booked it.

Erik -- I love BOTH reads! (for the pest control) and there definitely was a difference, don't worry. The first seemed like a taller skinnier guy who is TOUGH, whereas the second was shorter, more muscular, more NY and is a nice guy who wants to be thought of as tough. That's my take anyway. Smile

September (or Ember, is it?) -- I'm so glad I heard your read! I got this lead, but didn't think I could pull it off (AND BOY WAS I RIGHT!) But you really do have that down, as someone else posted, a very difficult combo of young, yet elegant. Congrats!

Deby -- I thought your tornado was excellent, but after reading the post about the sound, I listened again, with headphones and sure enough, it was very obvious. Very Good read, though.

All the Tornado people -- All excellent and SO DIFFERENT! As I said, I sure wish I'd gotten on this forum sooner. I feel I've missed a lot, but will definitely make this a regular visit! I can't believe all the production that some put into the auditions. I hadn't thought anyone was doing that. It definitely adds to it.

I think you have me mixed up with Karen...I didn't do the tornado read. I just posted my airline parody though. Wink

Hi, and thanks for the welcome, Deby.

I liked the second Jet Blue better, but both were very cute. The only thing I didn't like was the throat clearing which just seemed a bit too loud or out of character in both. Otherwise, thought both were well done and I just happened to like the second character better.

Deby - Yeah they asked for the NY accent finally after they held 2 casting calls. Even if I don't get this one, I'm really glad I at least got to go through some hoops and dig a little more deep for the client. And yes, you are right, that purr is soooooooo uncool haha

Frank - If you go to the Cats Eye site you can see the hero Cat on the bottom of the screen. www.catseyepest.com The Cat in the sketch and the Cat on their site look way different in size. From seeing what's on their site, I felt this Cat would not have a deep voice. I'm not 100% sure on this hunch of mine but I think if they wanted that deep voice they wouldn't have included the age rang of "child" or "teen". However, they've obviously warmed up to the idea with all of the deep voices they've received so perhaps they had no idea what they wanted in the beginning anyways. Who knows! I just hope one of us gets it.

You're right about the mix-up. I did mean Karen. I tried to take notes but goofed up. Oh, well, I'm new to posting.

It's kind of addicting, once you start. I guess I'll have to set a time limit. But now, I'd like to go back and hear all the previous posts from weeks past! Oh, no, another temptation to resist!

Hi Deby,

When you mentioned "choppy" on my read, were you referring to the missing word (or part of a word) on each take? That is how I watermark. Or did you mean, just in general that you thought it was choppy?

Celia....I thought it needed more flow through out....but I also noticed the missing words and had no idea that was watermarking....I usually just change the name of the product or try to have faith in the process. I like your slight southern accent....but I'm not sure where your from.

Colin.... I really loved the music...You did a great read!...but I think a Motherly voice would be better on this one. Mother's are usually the ones who take the kids to the Mall Bunny.

Now, I haven't listened to a one, but I'm already coughing up a hair-ball on this since it's a perfect example of what it's all come down to:

Clients have no idea what they're looking for; they have only a vague idea.
"Let's get 200 professionals to figure it out for us," they brightly decide, and post a job that THEY HAVE NO INTENTION OF GIVING.
"Nah, those don't work," they decide after listening to 50 dedicated and hard-worked auds. "Flush the rest and re-post it; let's hear something entirely different."
So they re-post, still with NO INTENTION OF HIRING.
"Yup; those are good," they exclaim after listening to twenty of 100 earnest reads "The New Yahwk sound is definitely the way to go. Billy! Call Big Fish and have them look for a tough New York cat.
Man, I love V123."

Simon -- your first pest control character read (the higher voice) has a hint of Peter Lorre's Dr. Einstein from Arsenic and Old Lace -- in the phrase "right over here in the wall". That used to be a regular stock impression in lots of guys' character reels -- this would be long before you were even born, I'd guess. You don't hear it much anymore. But it's a type you might explore to develop another character for your repertoire.
