hmmm? I think it's between Thom and Colin.....Thom your music was a bit loud on this one.....great imitation though.

Scott yours made me laugh I heard a bit of Mr Ed and John Wayne mixed in there.

Not one of you did a bad job though. Very Happy

Deby - Good luck with the Wrangler job! That was nice and must have been fun to do.

I can't tell you how often I've heard that your comment about my having a slight southern accent. I don't quite hear it myself, but there obviously must be something there for it to be commented on so often. The funny thing is, I've lived in S.CA all my life. And when I try to "do a southern accent," I can't pull it off!

In retrospect, I could've done a better job of watermarking on that Diabetes spot. Since I alerted them in the proposal, they were at least more prepared for it, and thankfully, didn't hold it against, as I still got a 5.

I've never had the guts to change the name of the product, because I always figure they want to hear their name, but that would certainly be easier. I do send in a fair amount unwatermarked, but I have to admit, I'm always a bit squeamish, especially if it's just a short piece.

Victor -- enjoyed both your NY Bottles guys, but especially the second.

Celia

One nuance on Pardo. He had a "quiver" in his voice. Did anyone else ever notice that?

Nah, even though all the boys did well -- still got to give the Pardo to Lee. Ranch girl was very good, Deby -- well done.

Thanks, Caryn, for the good reviews. Well, I think your instincts were right -- this time (and this is increasing rare) they did want an older voice, since mine and Celia's were equally well received . I do think most of the time they are looking more for the overall tone of the voice rather than the actual read. They can always give direction later might be the reasoning there.

Thanks Deby, but I disagree. Truly mine sucked. No, really, I know it did.

John's gets my vote.

Diggin' the Pardos guys! IMHO it's a tough call between Travis & Lee. Lee, yours actually reminded me of the guy who does the intro for Letterman... very nice!

Since EVERYONE is sharing on this one... here's my attempt... dry voice.

Dave, you KNOW what a huge fan I am of yours, no question. But like me, perhaps Pardo just isn't in your repertoire. The problem is that I heard just too much of DAVE DEANDREA in it. Hey, at least we finally know there's ONE thing you can't kill all the rest of us with!

PARDON MY PARDO!!!!!

I think Colin has it nailed!

I'm not in the race for the job on TOS, but I might as well contribute to win the Kewpie Doll. Here's a seminal version....

Which just goes to show how very subjective all this is. Everyone hears with different ears.

Thanks for posting that, James -- that was so wonderful. And with Steve Martin, too!!! Great moment.

David: EXCELLENT Pardo!!! Really well done!

I saw that clip on YouTube. Problem is, you never HEAR Pardo in it!
Man, Steve Martin is starting to show his age. But then, he IS 64 this year! I remember seeing him live at LSU in about 1977 or so when his bit then was "Happy Feet". Funny, funny freakin' concert and the warm up act was the singer Donovan (Hurdy Gurdy Man) for those of us who remember that far back.

A bit more recently, The Great Flydini:

Yes, I think it's so interesting that such an intelligent, poetic and insightful man can be such a master of low comedy -- but that's probably what makes it work so well. (Oh, and I think Steve is lookin' just fine, Scott.)

Hey, but now Youtube is even showing up in Leads and Reads!!! Remember the prophetic words of the old song -- "Video killed the radio star?"
