Hi folks. Thought I'd introduce myself as I've been a member of Voice123.com for a few months now and only recently found these forums.

I've only been doing voice overs full time for the last 3-4 months or so, though I've done two projects and a bunch of singing projects since I started. My background is as a singer, in fact. I've been behind the microphone in that capacity for many years. Only recently began to add voice overs to that mix though. Smile I'm enjoying it a great deal so far!

I'm always looking for advice on recording and how to improve my auditions. I'm a total newb when it comes to recording myself. I have a small office on the top floor of my house that seems to be the quietest room, and I use a Rode NT1-A mic with a Lexicon Omega pre-amp unit and Cubase LE - though I use Audacity's beta version for noise reduction as it's simply good. Smile When I'm recording in here, I just clamp up a blanket behind me and away I go. Not perfect results by any means - but I've tried the voice box - the 15" x 15" box lined with acoustic foam, and it comes out sounding muddy and muffled to my ears ... Probably something I'm doing wrong. My editing once I have a recording? Well. That just sucks. Wink

So if folks have recording advice, either of the "how to make your room more acoustically viable" sort or the "how to make your home recordings sound more professional" sort as far as the recording software is concerned, I'd *love* to hear it.

Thanks, guys!

All the best,

--Jodi

Smile Thanks very much, Diane! Always nice to get encouragement. Wink Especially in a business like this one!

Funny - I've been a member of Voice123.com for a little while now and never checked out these forums until I heard about them from Dave. Very Happy

All the best,

--Jodi
