Dave... interesting that you went for this one. I saw it (good budget!) but since they asked for a youthful, college-aged voice, I had to pass on it.

Yeah, I passed on it too. You two sound GREAT -- but not college age. (well, maybe 3rd year of grad school!)
Nice collaboration effort, though.

Yeah... we had a good laugh about sounding too old for what they were asking for... but sometimes (as you guys know) seekers change their minds. Seems like I recall a post from Colin about a seeker who was searching for a British accent... he gave it in his usual (great) way, and they decided to go with his instead of British.
Jodi did a great job... it was a fun chance to work together... whether we land the gig or not.

Well, that's true, Dave -- sometimes they might. But in this case, I thought their concept was a good one. They want to sell the college to kids, and kids want to hear other kids sell it to them.
But I can understand why you did it -- it's fun to work with someone else (I should know, eh?) and it's VOICES after all -- no ratings to deter you!

Awesome Dave!! Sounding good!!!!
I saw this one too, but I passed b/c I actually didn't think the budget was that great... but perhaps I misunderstood the seeker's intent for payout. I'll go back and look!

It wasn't... unless maybe I misunderstood. But, again, it was fun... AND since it was on TOS I didn't think I'd be robbing anybody else of a chance to audition by taking their "spot" out of a limited number of possible applicants. I could be wrong, but I think they just keep taking auditions until their close date or they find what they're looking for. Anyone know for sure?

Yup, you're right Dave!!!
PS: Please don't think I'm judging you b/c you did it and the budget was so so. To each his own, free markets, and all that!! If I'm attracted to a script (for example, I love commercial reads, radio especially), then I might bend for the budget just b/c I really enjoy doing them.

Hi guys. Finally found this place even though I've been a member of Voice123 for a few months now. Took Dave mentioning that he was posting this here for me to check it out. Thanks for taking the time to listen! And it was definitely a lot of fun. I really had a blast working with Dave and I love the way he made it sound as if we were actually both in the same room. I really love the deep tone of his voice. We weren't sure either of our voices would work for what they wanted in this spot, but it was well worth a try. I kind of thought enthusiasm and warmth might carry the day. I guess we'll see.
I'm really low on the technical savvy here. My editing abilities leave MUCH to be desired, so I'm still learning when it comes to that. I do all actual projects I'm hired for, in a local studio I have an arrangement with. But I do have a little bit of home studio equipment for the purposes of auditioning. I'm hugely impressed that Dave could make us sound so good.
And yeah - we definitely knew that our voices were perhaps a little old for what they were actually asking for. I have a demo on my site for Georgian College though that Dave thought might work for this one, so we gave it a shot. And whether or not they go for it, it was fun!
All the best,
--Jodi

A *2*?? Wow. That was a really smooth read, Kent. I loved it. Maybe it just wasn't what that particular seeker was looking for? I can't think of any other reason to rate that at a 2... LOVE your voice!
All the best,

Kent, at least on my download, the first two words didn't come off smoothly which may have put them off...which is a shame because everything else sounds EXCELLENT.
Still, no way is that read a 2 unless the average score was a 1

I started to audition for that too Kent but when I heard your read, and they gave you a 2, I decided it was out of my league. Your audition was at LEAST a 5.

Kent:
For what it's worth, you could submit an audition of nothing but COUGHING and it should rate no lower than a 4!
The only thing your "2" rating proves is our contention that these ratings don't mean jack ****.
