David -- That was great. I definitely see what you mean about going slower. I would have, if I thought I could have pulled it off the way you did.

Lots of really good stuff here so far this week.

Kent -- Very nice job on the Frontline Phantoms. It wasn't exactly "spooky" but it was ominous, which is what I think the seekers were actually looking for despite not being able to come up with the appropriate word to describe what they wanted (not an uncommon occurance).

Cira -- The usual great job on your Paper Cuts spot. You really captured that Sally Struthers tone of desperation, although I think the real Sally is also a bit whinier.

Deby -- The Iron Chef parody was superb. I hope the fact that Ohta and Kevin Brauch are men doesn't work against you. (Maybe they'll remember that Sissy Biggers was the floor reporter on Iron Chef USA.)

Michael -- I think your Fox and Grapes read was exactly what a kids' story should sound like.

Not entirely true... mine has been opened but unrated as of yet. Average is 4.9. Very Happy

Actually, I'm with you, Dave. Opened, but no rating.
However I DID get a 5 on the Grave Digger spot!

Here's one from TOS. I don't normally submit produced pieces, but I love this stuff and would live to land one!

OK... It's probably not important enough for anyone to comment on and I understand that, but this was a big deal to me.

Got an audition request from another source (indicated by the file name to the well initiated.)

They asked for the submitees to imitate the following link saying...

Quote:
The VO on this video is a perfect example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wT25ilQcdo The closest match to that will win the job.

OK... here's the video and my "imitation." I think I have the inflection but certainly not the tonality. Thom Wilkins would kick my ass on this one. First the video, then my submission....

Lee....Yes thank goodness for Sissy....Here is another female announcer.
They asked for a sports type announcer.http://www.youtube.com/watch?

Very Happy noch cooler

Here's another lead where they asked for a "male voice" They didn't have the instrumental downloadable so not many people auditioned for this Sammy Hagar jingle. I did though.

I'm pretty sure this is in A minor.....Am I right????

Colin - here is my attempt at the "sports featurett"- - Although the 60s spot has a lot of words and needs a much faster read - that would result in a loss of the sports cadence here... or copy edit... anyway - here tiz... Wink

Thanks, Lee! I purposely held back on the whining because I tend to hit seekers over the head with my antics. But what fun it was!

Deby:

The chorus of "Why Can't This Be Love?" is in a Major key. It may be in A but I'm not sure. (If I had my keyboard out of the crate, I could tell you)

Your vocal certainly sounds like a Major key.

Okay, I'll play the "Jim Crawford" game.
Rather than throw out my opinions, I'd be interested in hearing from others which of us came closest to the YouTube announcer style.

OK, this is one I got yesterday. I asked Colin "Bat Ears" Campbell to critique my Wilma Flintstone and asked him if I was delusional to submit this. He told me to go for it. I don't like how I said "in the kitchen", and I also think Wilma's register is a bit lower--but, oh, well--it's too late now.

Lee, you are my best/worst critic-- so let's hear it!

Cira:

If you're going for the original voice of Wilma Flintstone (Jean Vander Ply) the one you have now is too sweet and inviting to my ear. The original was a lot more nasal and with much harder 'R's, almost breaking 'Fred' into two sylables. Add a little bit of Alice Cramden to what you've got now, and I think you'll have it. (The Flintstones was loosely based on The Honeymooners anyway)

Now that's if they want the original Wilma Flintstone. They might want something similar, only more appealing in a new voice for Wilma. But with such a pleasant voice as yours, Fred may never want to leave the cave! Wink
