Greetings. I've attempted to search on this but hope u's don't mine this focussed question. I was under the impression that the setup I described in my subject line would work for home practice and maybe, one day, auditions.

I need to know if the equipment chain is missing anything, failing that I it may just be the case of learning the hardware and software better, or am I missing a critical link. I was led to beleieve that the UA-25 provided pre-amp functions.

many thanks in Advance.

Al

Well, I am now getting the sound very well through the headphones plugged into the Edirol but can't get audacity to recognize mic. I've looked at preferances and it is marked with Edirol US-25 as the devices.

Thanks in advance.

is the phantom power switch on, on the Edirol?

are the input AND output devices in preferences set to Edirol in Audacity?

is the input device setting in Audacity set to the same input the you have the AT 3035 plugged into?

is the sample rate on the Edirol set to the same sample rate in Audacity preferences?

Thanks Lee for the help. I did end up checking those items ( prior to your reply) and it just did not seem to recognize the mike. I installed Cakewalk Sonar that came with the Edirol. Then for some reason Audacity started working fine. I must have missed something along the way, but I do now have it up and running.

This is my first experience with a sensitive mic so now I need to quiet the room. I hear birds chirping through the mic. I wasn't aware the birds were even back in town yet.

Thanks for the advise.

Al
