| Back in June of last year I had done a spot for an NBC affiliate station in Arkansas. The station commercial producer had found me on v123 (that's one of the private leads I had mentioned in another thread). Well, he loved my work and promised me more gigs from him. Shortly thereafter he quit working there and went to a better job. Haven't heard from him since. Until just now! He just called me and and wants to hook me up with a series of 16 :30 spots for the Weather channel. He said ultimately his client would have to decide whether to use me or not, but he's highly recommending me and he is going to get back with me by Monday. It's not guaranteed, but I had to share due to my excitement at the prospect. lol He said If the client goes with me, it's going to be a guarantee of continuing work from them.

Way to go, Tom!
That Golden Chord award is starting to pay dividends already!
It's like having a Oscar or Emmy.....or bunions.
Happy for you, guy.
Voice On!

| Thanks man. Like I said, it's not guaranteed because the client still has to decide whether to use me or not, but hey, I figure I've got a good shot at it since I'm coming highly recommended.

Tom,
I couldn't be happier for you because, if nothing else, it couldn't happen to a nicer guy. That's GREAT. Interestingly my wife, who is a 3D animator, has her feelers out for a new job and the Weather Channel contacted her this week for a possible position. They're headquartered here in Atlanta where we are, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for BOTH of you that the jobs come thru!

On a roll, boys.....way to go.
That's uber-great, Todd. One of the water-cooler types bagging one that we've tossed around at the forum.
And I agree with you, incidentally, about the Demos of the Day actually raising the bar and helping us all..
Don't remember where you said....or even if you said it, come to think of it.
Anyway, can't find your Volant aud. Is it here somewhere?
(I want to grumble to it)

I don't know that I posted it. Don't think I did. Anyhoo - here's the audition. The actual script turned out to be a bit different. Nothing special (to my ears) The client said it was a combination of voice & delivery/speed.

I appreciate you posting that, Todd. I wanted to hear what they were looking for. I went back and forth between yours and mine to see the difference and yours had a bit more energy (no big surprise) and was a bit more on the formal 'announcer' side whereas mine was, as they tend to be, more conversational.
But it sure is good to know one of the good guys (and that has multiple meanings) got it! Way to go, buddy.

Todd:
Aren't you on the air tonight?
You have no time for that Volant nonsense...Tell you what, I'll step in and....
Oh, never mind.
Thanks for posting that. Again, it demonstrates that we have no earthly idea of what the client is looking for.
That was a typically smooth Todd Ellis take...no production, no ZAP!...just a very pro "here you go, folks" presentation.
I liked it.
As Scott did, I flicked back and forth between yours and mine. You, Todd, sounded like Zen. By comparison, the rest of us might have sounded like contortionists.
So what do we learn?
That nice guys do finish first.
