Indeed. The later Buddah-distributed label and not the earlier MGM-distributed label. In the band was Michael Brown, formerly of The Left Banke. _________________ Chris Mezzolesta www.voiceguy1.com SaVoa #07010

I wanted to get back to you Allison. I was not aware that there was a version with less "I know's." Great trivia.
I am really big on the ORIGINAL and LONG (COMPLETE) version of songs. They're hard to find at times.
Bill Withers original version always stands out w/me b'c I used to count the "I KNOWS" every time it came on WABC. Yrs later when I started in local AC radio, I noticed the "I KNOWS" were alot shorter.
Speaking of original vs LONG (complete) versions, this isn't music related, but it's definately from back in the day:
Marcia was hit with the football 17 times in the original episode, but that number was cut back to 4 or 5 times for syndication. Let's get back to music on Friday night.... See U then!

I know it's not Friday night but this was hard to find. If you THINK you are hearing the original version of this, you are most likely not. They got the old guys together to re-record it and it is not the original most of the time. From around 1972.... The Stories... Brother Louie.... (DOWNSAMPLED FOR SAVVY.. IF YOU'D LIKE BETTER QUALITY, LET ME KNOW OFF LIST.)

Wow Colin, now you're giving me great trivia. I had no idea that STORIES had rerecorded the original Brother Louie. In 1972, I was only 6 yrs old. The version I posted is from The 70's Preservation Society CD released in 1990 from CBS records.
Deby, that song makes me welt up with tears. It's been a very long time since I heard it. I don't think any of the oldies stations even play it. Thanks for posting the YouTube video!
