I have to guess that perhaps subscribers to this forum have found a better use for listening to new demos than to post a quick reply after listening.
I have removed my demo until I can figure out the practical advantage of sharing it. |

Thanks for posting your demo.
Although I am not the regular guy to give feedback on this forum, I certainly can give you some of my thoughts on how your demo sounds, but hey, listen, I am just a tiny little fellow from the corner of the pool, Wait until the big guys/ladies come aboard to get real critique.
From what I heard on your demo, you have a neat voice. Very British, and quite local. I can not pinpoint where your accents' from, but am I wrong if I say the Midlands? Upper East Coast? oy!
Please tell me.
I think it's not fair that you had 104 interested VO's wanting to hear you, but none leaving a reply. (I am sure it has got to do with the demo missing). So here it goes:
You have a distinctive voice - recognizable, and I bet you are a funny lad in social life. I can almost hear that. But somehow, I should like to hear more of the real funny lad that I see on the picture. That is, I feel that you r-e-a-d to much, in stead of delivering as a guy I can fully trust. CABLE GUY!!!! U Know?
So I mean, with my critical shades on, and this IS an art, I would have to say that you have to work a bit more with your attitude in front of the mic. Don't read it. Act it. And trust the funny guy that I am sure you are - and let him speak. But I would like to hear some more, and maybe with a production that moves.
Thanks.
Regards from Leif

Paul,
I can only speak for me personally, but I'll at least give you my take on why I didn't review it. I DID give it a quick listen, but I'm just running out of time nowdays. I used to post here every day. I critiqued a LOT of demos and posted and critiqued a lot on the Leads and Reads thread. After a year and a half I'm burned out. I began to get a LOT of private e-mails and messages from many, many well-meaning folks asking me to go to their site and provide feedback and, well, I have to work for a living.
The truth is, the ones who would be MOST valuable to you in providing feedback, the working pros who are doing this fulltime for a living, don't really have the time to respond to all the demos and auditions people post here. That's not fair to you, but it just is what it is.
And always be careful about soliciting feedback here. There are many qualified pros, but there are even more who are just now testing the waters or who only do this a little 'here and there' who have no training and really little qualifications. If you REALLY want to know if your stuff is up to snuff, find a good, recommended voice coach and get their opinion. _________________ Scott R. Pollak

I am much relieved by the replies; I felt like a bit of a snot writing my second post but I put that down to my recently discovered (sensitive) 'voice' ego which needed some petting.
Thank you Scott for the reality check; my 'voice world' is very small but eagerly growing with the immense amount of information on the web. I have found a respectable voice coach.
Thank you Leif for your insight which quite took me aback. Your perception of the "funny lad" is precisely the character I strive for. I am from the Thames Valley, about 60 miles west of London. I didn't understand the bit about "a production that moves." I am truly grateful for your reply.
