Colin... haven't had a chance yet to listen to your read, but when my son (who turned 15 yesterday) was a toddler, he lived, breathed, ate, drank and pooped anything and everything Thomas. He had all the little metal toys and cars and engines and ALL the videos. We still kept all the little metal cars and won't ever part with them. We actually had to buy him a SECOND little metal "Thomas" because he walked around for so many years with the first one tightly clutched inside his fist that he wore all the paint off!

I can relate to that Scott. Even my son's room is done up in a Thomas theme.

When my now 13 year old nephew was younger, he was totally into Thomas & Friends. He later moved on to Legos (which made me a pretty cool uncle when I got to voice the Farmer character on a Lego video), then it was Transformers, and now he's starting to get into more grown up things. What's next? Girls?
Here's a picture his late father took of him about 9 years ago when the life-size Thomas came to town.

That's so cool.. We've taken my son Quentin twice to see the life size Thomas and ride a real train. It's an expensive day out, but boy I'll tell you, he talks about it for months before and after.
Big thing now though is "Webkins." Stuffed animals both real and virtual. You get yourself a Webkin and then go online to "adopt" it. Then a bunch of stuff happens that I am not all that familliar with but it must be pretty neat because he and his Mom talk about it all the time.

Okay, this is awesome! I really, really enjoyed it.
Years ago my dad and I took a trip from Florida to Kentucky and I was young, not quite five. It was the first time I was ever away from my mom and she knew that I would be scared and worried. To help with the long trip (and I am sure to insure dad's sane return lol) she recorded -- on cassette -- a bunch of Golden books. One of which was Briar Rabbit and the Tar Baby (My favorite). She used a little bicycle bell to show when to turn the page. Dad said that I played that tape so much that by the time we got back to mom and my sister the tape had worn out haha. Not sure if dad will ever be the same HAHAHA
Anyway, thanks Mr. Campbell for such a great evening story prior to my hopping off to kipper.

This thread is tickling a thought in my head. I sometimes write 5 minute stage parodies of unlikely pairings: I've done Porky and MacBeth, Annie Get Your Dreidel (a combo of Annie and Fiddler on the Roof) now it might be Brer with Thomas somehow. All I've got so far is one line:
"Feeling rather put upon....he lay lowwww...
[Oh. Gosh. Now I won't be able to get anything else done.]

Have you shared your "Porky & MacBeth" script with Bob Bergen?

I wrote that one 10 or 12 years ago -- don't think I've got a copy anymore. (I know...I know...I should keep better track of stuff) But I likely wouldn't find it as funny now myself -- though, like all writers, I was absolutely enchanted by it (meaning myself) at the time. It was received well by the audience. But they'd paid no admission, so that should tell you something. I certainly doubt it would be worth even passing curiosity to anyone else.
And my idea for Brer meets Thomas is getting rather Brokeback in my head...I'm two years too late. Alas. The story of my life.

I can hear it now, "Thomas has been rear-ended by James, the splendid red engine ..."
And I'm also hearing a musical number from Annie Get Your Dreidel. Oy-klahoma

ACK! Lee, you're worse than I am. And you with that snuggly bear Burl Ives voice. We better quit before Colin starts after us with a fly swatter.
You're a sweet daddy, Colin!!!

I only claim two and none are named Melba. Also, I've been accused of having a "good looking mailman" so maybe two is overstated.
