I’ve got this thing about tropical waters. So this summer’s vacation might be spent in Italy or Spain, as I’ve never been to either country... Although I might head east and visit Riu Ocho Rios in Jamaica! Has anyone been to Jamaica?
This is it:
That water does something for me!! But i fear sharks. _________________ Regards,

I went to Jamaica in the mid 80's, a year after high school to be exact. I went to Hedonism II on Negrel. It's definately a singles vacation. Jamaica is beautiful and I'd go back again, but I'd personally choose Italy for my next major trip. That's just my opinion. If you choose Jamaica, you'll have a blast. Just don't drink the water.

I've always wanted to go to Italy! My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Negril 2 years ago. We loved Jamaica! We ziplined, snorkeled, sailed...and loved the red flag service on the beach. It was a very relaxing trip. _________________ www.karaedwardsvo.com

I don't recommend Jamaica, personally. But everyone's different.
The Carribbean is full of beautful islands with great beaches. We spent our honeymoon at Ladera on St. Lucia, and I've known a couple of people who've gone to St. Lucia and loved it. You can check out Ladera here: http://www.ladera.com/. There's also a Hilton right down on the beach that's very nice.
Grand Cayman is also nice (and a little closer). Beautiful beaches, diving and snorkeling.
Then there's St. John/St. Thomas. While I've never been to St. John, we have researched going there several times and we really do want to go. You can rent a villa/house (even for two) and it seems pretty reasonable. _________________ Caryn Clark... THE Hip Chick Voice!

I have heard nothing good about Jamaica, sorry to say.
I have only been to Rome and Florence in Italy, so can't comment on the seaside resorts there. I have friends who LOVE Capri.
I have been to Marbella and Puerto Banus, Spain. Gorgeous -- we had a great time there. Highly recommended.
Nearer to home, we go to Bermuda not often enough (pricey) and it's wonderful. _________________ Diane

I was in northern Italy, in Verbania-Intra in the Lake Maggiore region north of Milan and east of Turin. Wonderful. An hour on the train puts you either in Milan, Turin, or just inside Switzerland. Plenty to see, smell, hear, taste, etc. Would go back in a heartbeat. _________________ Chris Mezzolesta

Hi Allison, Yes, I've also heard some great comments on Italy. My friend has just come back from Italy with his girlfriend. He says, its a couples resort, and most of Italy is for couples. Although i have never been there. I'll add it to my list of country's to visit for sure.

Erm Kara, I got to ask what the red flag is? Obviously I'll assume safe to swim in etc. But in Ireland its a blue flag! It generally means safe - clean waters. Or does the red flag represent something else in the US?

Hi Caryn, cheers for the link. I've bookmarked it and i think I'll come back to it another time. After reading up on it, seems like its more for couples, and I'm going away to get some freedom. LOL -- I just hope my other half isn't reading this post. :-
To Diane and Chris, thanks for the posts. I've heard both good and bad about Jamaica since posting this! And I've decided to hold off on the Idea, and am viewing Puerto Rico. My friends went there a few months ago and they might be going back in 2 months or so. Has anyone being to http://welcome.topuertorico.org/index.shtml puerto rico?
Thanks for the comments. _________________ Regards,
