|
|
I had been looking into a Snowball mic to take with me when I travel overnight...just in case a juicy audition were to come my way on one of the few occasions when I wasn't home. I hesitated because it sounded like it was (relatively) bulky/heavy for a "portable" mic. And I don't think it came with a case. Anyway, I just saw the Snowflake mic, which looks as though it might address the issues I had. However...does anyone know what it sounds like? Good enough for an audition? Or are there other lightweight, portable, protectable USB mics people recommend?

Judge for yourself:

Look for "Blue Snowball".
I don't like it. If all you want is a USB mic I prefer the Samson Q1U which I use for Skype. |

Chris - what kind of files are those on your listening site.
I do national audio production and have never encountered those files. My computer doesn't recognize them.

Bill, they are both formats that some audiophiles like. FLAC is lossless, OG is not but it's still high quality. There are filters you can use to open them in cool edit/audition here: http://www.vuplayer.com/audition.php
I have and use several from that site with no problems but use at your own risk as they are not supported. _________________ www.brianhartproductions.com |

| The free Winamp supports them as well. |

| Thanks for the replies. I removed Winamp because I never use it, but I'll re-install. |

We aim for high quality in the Mic Listening Room
Goldwave is another worthy program which deserves mention and will play these back.
Again, if you want the cheapest way to get started recording voice on a computer or want a mic to take on the road which will occupy minimal space, I think the Samson Q1U is quite respectable-sounding. |
