I've had 13 Re-Invitations today - on projects I had already deleted. I couldn't see any differences in the statement of work or the budgets in my cursory glance.

Is this a glitch in the system or something else going on...such as people simply not auditioning and putting the call out again? That is one thing that appeared to be true about the leads I actually looked at (and I didn't re-look at them all) - the number of people auditioning was low

Connie,

I noticed it started up last week sometime. Customer service mentioned that there was a glitch in the system. It seems they still have to clear it out as I'm still getting a lot of them too.

A Re-Cheers,
Cameron

Yes, Connie.
This has been mentioned in another thread recently. We are hoping that if the response is unsatisfactory on these low budget leads, the seeker may get the idea. Doesn't seem to be working.

(Glitch? Really?)

… Maybe their $100.00 budget for a “national” wasn’t attracting the “right voice”?

The one that made me laugh out loud was the re-invite for the DVD Queen Sized – which when first sent to us was a union gig (I can deal)… when it was reissued it came back as a 150.00 job. Glad I didn’t bother! Confused

Tom, I've done work for the people who issued the Queensized lead... I bid way above their budget, and they honored that. They're actually great to work with.

Never let budget stop you from auditioning - that's what I think anyway.

I agree with Caryn. I bid way above that quote as well. And when a project makes it the the "re-invite" or "extended" stage, I will always increase my bid.

It's an interesting glitch....
I'm getting re-invites for projects that are still open.

Maybe somebody's trying to tell me that I really, REALLY should audition for it!
Wink

Cheers!
Steve

I think that's how the re-invites work. Joe Blow posts a job for a 6 minute piece that he'll use on his internet radio show and when he works the ones & twos in his neighborhood club. He requests a voice talent with at least 3 years of experience, offers $65 and says he wants 25 demos.

Lo and behold, when he eventually gets his 25 demos, they all suck. What a surprise! (And the project switches to "Open but no longer receiving demos" status.) So, does he up the budget? Nope. He increases the number of demos from 25 to 50. That removes the "No longer receiving demos" designation from his project and it becomes just plain open again.

Lee's got it pegged right.

Received a private invite for one of these the other day. Returned my rates and was told that they can't afford it. Best part was the oh so professional request to "do them a solid"...

I doubled my price based on that conversation. Problem clients (or those who raise multiple red flags) deserve to pay more.

Starting in the past day or two I have seen a new trend develop: re-reinvitations. I have now received three separate opportunities to tell the world "Who is Allah?" for $75. I have also gotten a three-peat of a couple of CSC videos, on high blood pressure and genetics, but since the initial invitation came through I have not yet turned into an African American nor have I become Puerto Rican so those two projects continue to be outside my comfort zone.
I wish there were a way to tell Voice123 "enough already," the same way seekers can by giving us a 1. But even then, I would not want to shut out a seeker, just an individual project. There have been several other CSC leads that were appropriate and that I would audition for.

I actually followed that lead, Lee-more out of curiousity than anything else.
The total script is about 2,800 words and is a pretty complex read.

....needless to say, I politely bowed out of that one....

Cheers!
Steve

I also have been getting numerous invites. Yesterday and today I received invites for leads I had already deleted. To top things off I received an email asking me to submit my thoughts on V123 over the last year.

Oh, where to begin?

Thanks,
