At a voiceover conference near you...

....ME!!!! (...and accompanying characters - Smile Wink Sad Cool Twisted Evil Shocked Very Happy Rolling Eyes etc)

Yes, I've read all the arguments for and against Voice 2008, but what the heck, I'm ready to break the bank, cross the pond, shake some hands and wave my wand fliehen (of the vocal variety, silly!).

Can't wait to meet everyone who's coming.

Look for a shiny brown head and a walking stick...

See you soon!

Rajiv

That's wonderful, Rajiv! I'll see you there then. I'll listen for you -- which voice will you be using?

Hi Diane,

Not even sure which voices I'll be using, myselves! irre

It'll be my first time in North America, so I'm really looking forward to taking in some of the scenery...

I hear the lobby's nice, not to mention the reception desk, and what about that conference room, and the banqueting hall...

(I guess the real sightseeing will have to wait for my next trip.)

See you there!

Yay Rajiv!
It'll be lovely to meet you! I've also booked my ticket so I'll be there for the party!

Don't worry, I'm sure you'll find some time to see the Bugs Bunny star and the Hollywood sign!

Funny though that we'll both have to cross the pond to meet up! he, he! Very Happy

Rajiv

I'm attending VOICE 2008 too and look forward to putting a face to the many voices you have! I live in LA, so it's not too far to commute!

Actually, I look forward to meeting many of the VOSavvy folk I rely on for advice, commiseration and laughs!

Claire, ma cherie!

Indeed, it will be 'un vrai plaisr' (pour moi aussi!).

Yes, strange that we both live on this little isle but will have to travel x thousand miles to break the ice. Still, not a bad place to do it, eh?!

I'm happy I got a flight with Virgin, as their entertainment systems make long journeys almost bearable. My 12 hour trip to Tokyo last year went remarkably quickly - with various decent movies, games, music and meditations for company. Hope your flight is fun-filled, too...

And Lori, it'll be great to meet you, too. Local girl, eh? Now let's see... my flight gets in at 2.50pm on the Thursday, so... "Taxi!!!" Wink Only joshing. I'm probably going to take one of those Super-Shuttle things to the hotel. Hope I'm not too wiped out to make it to the opening meet-n-greet do that evening (I've signed up for just about everything, but I have a feeling jet-lag will have it's say at some point schlafen ).

So that's Lori, Claire, Diane, Matt, Kara that I know of who'll be there. Which other Savvyites (Savvyges?) should I look out for???

A presto!

Rajiv (Le-Faux-Voicy anmachen )

Well, I consider myself a VO-BB'r - I have the t-shirt. But I'll be there too! The store doesn't have the one from VOICE 2007, but I picked up the sleeveless one, too...to show off my girly guns.

Very stylish, Connie! I never argue with girlie-guns...

Looking at the typical August LA climate info, I guess I should probably leave my standard polo-neck eskimo sweater at home...

Really looking forward to meeting you (hopefully some of that top-pro magic might rub off on the rest of us).

Hey Rajiv, that's brilliant news! I look forward to meeting you.

How will we divide our time between talking about VO and arguing about cricket? Very Happy

Also, I am moving to the UK in September, so I may need to pick your brain in the near future...

Cheers mate!

Matt, given Australia's virtual world domination of cricket over the last decade and more, there'll be more chance of me talking knitting with you! (How are your cross-stitches coming on these days...?)

T'will be good to meet you, sir (I'll do the best I can with the moving-to-the-UK info - as long as you stick to simple TV-channel-listing-related questions...).

Hi Rajiv ~

How great that you're going to bring your incredible talent to Los Angeles!

I'll definitely be there and I'm hoping that those of us on the Savvy boards will find a way to meet each other.

If this is your first time to America, perhaps you can find a way to add a few extra days to your trip to see some of the sights? It would be a shame to come all that way and only see the interior of a hotel.

Even an extra day or two to jaunt up to northern Cali, (you can rent a convertible Corvette you know.....), and see the wine country, or Muir woods. It would be wonderful if you could see some of the sheer beauty of America while you're here.

Kindest regards and have a wonderful flight on Virgin. (I'm jealous! They're FABULOUS!!)

This is starting to get almost business-like...
I am loath to spend three grand to listen to the admittedly sterling panel (nothing personal; it's only that in a previous life I spent more time at seminars than PowerPoint did), but to dole out dollars to meet Rajiv, Diane, Maxine, Caryn, Matt, Connie, Claire and others is now working out to some $300 per forum-mate. That is tantalizing.

Now it's like a stock-market watch.

Once your acquaintanceship values settle at the $75 mark , I think I'm a buyer.

Ticker Tape On!

ok, on the Thursday eve, there's a "Networking" thing at the hotel until 8pm.
Why don't we all meet at 8 in the lobby and head off to a fabulous venue like the sky bar and have a Savvy evening?
I'm sure there'll be enough cars to fit us all, otherwise we can just pick somewhere close to the hotel.
And those who are not doing the event, can still join us. Very Happy (Robert?)

Maxine, thanks for the warm words of welcome. It'll be a pleasure to meet you, I'm sure.

Northern California sounds spectacular, but the flight's booked for a swiftish exit, so, alas, the grand tour will have to wait for next time, methinks...

Caryn, great to hear you're coming, too. (I take it, you'll be the one in the yellow bird outfit, right? Wink

Claire, that sounds like an excellent plan to meet up for a few bevvies with the Savvy luvvies after we've finished working those early nets. (You're currently the bookies' favourite in the race for Entertainments-Officer. Dancing ) I just hope that by evening, I'm not flattened with fatigue from the flight - not to mention my balance disorder!... roll smilie

And Robert , those economies-of-scale appear to be conspiring inexorably to send Sir-Moose-A-Lot ever closer to that cup of collective friendship, whose units of pleasure no calculator nor abacus can quantify. Resistance is futile... aufs maul
