I'd like to hear all of your favorite recordings. I have mine, but I'm holding it back so as not to seem like this new topic is self-promotion.

I think this is a great topic! Give us the most favorite recording of a spot or clip that you have in your collection. Something you're proud of.

Wow! No one wants to put up the recording they are most proud of so I guess this thread will die a natural death.

Well... here's my favorite one over the past year or so....

Colin --
I've been thinking about it, but for me, it's like asking me who's your favorite child. You might get quicker responses from people if you asked what their LEAST favorite is -- some of my early work makes me cringe! Hey, but somebody liked it enough to pay me for it.
I'll keep looking... nice idea for a thread. It shows you love what you do. Sometimes people get a bit too preoccupied in the business end. Hmm.. they're probably the ones getting the most business.

Colin,

I couldn't possibly rate any single one of my recordings over the others, as I believe they are all superb....

First off, nice job on that piece, Colin. I haven't posted a spot of my own yet because my productions are like my children -- I love them all. OK, that's a load of crap. I don't have any children and the vast majority of the spots I've done are OK but nothing I feel the need to crow about. Somewhere in the dark recesses of my studio I must have a few spots on reels or cassettes or DATs that are worthy of posting in this thread but I'll have to find them, dig them out, and digitize them before I can post them.

Okay, fine... I'll play. How about one I never landed? This has always been one of my favorites. J.S. Gilbert told me he liked my audition way more than the guy who landed the actual job and I was extremely humbled and flattered by his compliment.

Colin and Scott,

Great stuff.

Scott-I closed my eyes and felt like I did when I was a kid vacationing at the beach in NJ.

Colin-That was a great journey you just took me on with that read.

Both of you guys are top professionals. Once I hit play on any of your reads, I'm listening to the end.

Thanks for sharing.

OK, I am creating a special folder on my desktop and from now on, whenever I record something I am really proud of, I am going to put a copy into that folder so that in the future we can start a new thread called "Best Demos that Didn't Get You the Job" and we can all post our favorite "losers" in there. In the meantime, I have about 1500 custom demos to go through to try to find one or two spots to post here. It could take a while.

Scott, look at the time stamps, it was like a DAY AND A HALF not an hour.... BUDDY.

Nice job on that read. You seem to enjoy the deep resonant thing going against your money voice.

PS... you know how I hate that "buddy." Ever see The Incredibles?

Okay, Colin -- I guess I have to go with the work I did with Mr. Jadah. It was not only fine voice acting -- it was so much fun besides, due in great part to Robert's input, and the collaborative direction we were able to do on it. More Shakespeare, then, though we did do other authors -- the Shakespeare was my favorite. This is the full podcast in all its educational glory.

Here, from a Midsummer Night's Dream -- we play fairies. Yeah, that's right, with Robert as the Fairy King. (I asked his permission to post it.)

This, also is my 1000th post at Savvy, so it is fitting to post something of this nature to mark this milestone.

Here's an actual spot I did which I really liked, once I heard the finished product; and here's a rough audition for one of those Hershey's things waaay back, which I was really pleased with -- even for the rough read straight into the laptop.

I did this spot the other night around 10pm after an 11 hr day of work on the air and other misc production. The copy came to me at the end of the business day. I heard the same spot on AC station in my market voiced by their morning show talent. With all due respect, the other station did nothing to add excitement to the copy. I spent time searching for sfx rather than music for this commercial. My VO delivery may not be 100%, but I'm proud of the sfx I used in order to feel the copy.
