|
|
So I'm on a sloooow Verizon wireless connection while visiting my parents in Arizona, and I submit an audition, only to be greeted with a "Voice123 is uploading your file. Hey, how about trying a little Voice123 yoga" picture.
I don't know how long this has been happening, because this is the first I remember seeing it...but on a slow connection I assume it's slowing EVERYTHING down to have to download that picture.
Is anyone else as incensed by this as I am?!? It's bad enough that they make us click through two "are you sure" screens before we get to the lead page, but this is ridiculous...I'd really rather see them concentrate on increasing the speed of the system instead of coming up with BS crap like this "Voice123 Yoga" crap.
Auditioning is a numbers game. Numbers are all about speed. V123 seems to continually come up with things to SLOW DOWN the process of getting as many auditions out as possible. It's infuriating. Anyone else feeling this?
Discuss. |

Well I don't know about you Craig, But I need a reminder to do VO Yoga - esp when it is taking a long time to upload, or I have missed out on a "Good" closed smartcast audition - VO Yoga is handy for lowering the blood pressure, reducing swear words, and generally bringing a rosey outlook to life..... Now together,
OoooooooHhhhhhhhhhMmmmmmmmmmm....

I think it's lame, but not necessarily anything to be upset about. _________________ For more voice over demos, my life story, and other foolishness, please visit my website at www.leegordonproductions.com |

It's an interesting question if the Yoga demonstration is slowing down the uploading. It would be slowing down the uploading for everyone, but perhaps slowing it down worse for those with slower connections.
Once you confirm that you want to submit, you have an hour so you should be fine.
I rather like the quirkiness of it, and I really do need to stay flexible and moving...becoming a bump on a log by my computer can only erase the good my warmup excercises do for my voice. _________________ BEAT LA!!! BEAT LA!!! BEAT LA!!!

Okay, so maybe I'm considerably more type-A than everybody who's responded to my post so far, but my point was that once again, V123 has put obstacles in place that make it more difficult to do auditions quickly and efficiently.
ANYTHING other than pressing the button and immediately uploading the file, is an obstacle and a waste of my time. That's all I was trying to say. Putting the huge photo on the top of the frame forces all the rest of the page content down, meaning I have to scroll down to confirm that it's actually uploading. Maybe not a huge deal for some, but I say it's cumbersome and unnecessary.
I just wish they would concentrate on things that matter, rather than come up with this cutesy stuff that doesn't help us do our jobs.
I'm just sayin'.... |

| Craig...my thoughts exactly. Rather than upgrade their server for faster uploads, they put that silly graphic up in a futile attempt to distract. More unprofessional hooha. |

Hi Craig ~
Surely you jest! A yoga photo comes up? How totally bizarre. As I rarely send in auditions to public leads I haven't had the pleasure of seeing this page appear and I do agree the multiple questions asking us if we're SURE we want to audition, are rather silly.
Is this a yoga photo? A yoga video? What pose is it? (I hope it’s not Shavasana and is something far more interesting to contemplate like Vrischika-asana.)
I'm just curious as I'm a regularly practicing yogi, and I'm wondering what they saw fit to use for such a bizarre purpose. Voice123 audition page that’s already insanely slow and they’re taking time to show a yoga picture? Huh? Who is it exactly that comes UP with these business decisions?
Great head shot by the way,
Maxine

On the other hand, being the last one in for a lead isn't the worst thing. The last one in is the first one on the pile the seeker will hear. The first one in will be the last. It's part of the game you play when auditioning over here. Try to be somewhere in the middle (unless it's a 20 or so lead audition). Yes, it's a hoop. Yes, it's a bit silly. But, yes, it's the way of things here for now.
...and I'll take anything over the sad looking teddy bear they put up when the upload doesn't take. _________________ Life is short but sweet, for certain

I totally was going to write to them and tell them I thought it was brilliant!!!! Cool ......Smart......and would even allow people to read better on their next audition! Ofcourse being a stage actor...we would often start rehearsals with a 10 min stretching session before actually hitting the script...we had vocal "warm ups" mixed in with the stretching....

Am I the only one who has experienced this???? Loose it good in every sense of the word.......(loose meaning flexible....not slutty) (yeah I stopped that joke before you could make it!) |
