Want to hear something else infuriating? I've not renewed my premium membership, but I still get the "look at what you're missing" lead e-mails. Most of it is the same old-same old. Then yesterday, I see a lead for something Haven-sent. Shakespeare. For an audiobook. Dream job. With my years of classical theater work on the stage, my graduate degree in Theater, my undergrad degree in English literature, my years of running Shakespeare acting workshops for kids... this finally appears. After two full years of leads, well, let's just say... NOT Shakespeare.

Sigh.

This is why I don't go to Las Vegas. ( Or maybe they made that one up just to lure me back???)

Maybe I should write and ask for my membership to be extended 60 days for free since I've been such a loyal subscriber for so long? How about sending a reward to those of us that work regularly here and say, "As a thank you for your loyalty and continued subscription to Voice123, we'd like to gift you with two free months at the end of your subscription this year and thank you for your business!"

Wouldn't that be novel?

I don't think Dave's friend would have got any tags as you can only get tagged as a premium subscriber anyway.

I think that is a good idea actually Max! You never know until you ask Smile There should be a reward for the professional people that actually bring credibility to the site.

Have you noticed Steven's new title? QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER -- that is new, isn't it?

I think it may be the beginning of a recruitment drive for that TOP TIER subscription.

How many people do you suppose would ever subscribe here, though, if the sales pitch in the beginning was, "Pay us $295 and we'll continually decrease the number of leads we send you over time until you receive only one or two a week....but don't worry because we have Smartcast and demo tagging?!?!?!?!?

I doubt very many.

Though it IS kinda frustrating, it's not a new marketing concept. When my phone got water damage and went kaput last week, T-Mobile didn't think anything of my 4 years of loyalty and I had to pay full price for the new phone. However, anyone signing up for new service with them gets a brand new phone for free. First time car buyers at a dealership get better rates. It's all about hooking the client. They're banking on giving away a few free 60 day trials will bring in more money.

Here's a question: if any of you guys booked a $3,000 gig today, would you re-new your subscription despite everything?

I think most of us would renew if we got a $300 gig here today. And you are so right, Ember -- it's all about getting new customers -- just like it is for us. Don't you hate that when you buy something, and then it goes on sale the next day?

I was all set to renew here, I have NOT lost money on this site, even with the few jobs I did get this past year, I more than doubled my investment. Why I did not renew was not only the lack of suitable leads I received, or even the insulting and condescending treatment you tend to get a lot of here -- it was ultimately the somewhat chaotic state of flux it seems to be in right now. I would really like to see the way it all plays out before I reinvest in it.

I harbor no ill will -- I sincerely hope they can get it together. It's just right now, it doesn't look good.

Great point Diane. If they treated everyone like professionals instead of kindergarteners, there may not be the level of dissatisfaction there is. I remember having to get a temp gig after being forced out of the entertainment company I co-founded and was on the board of - simply because I came thru a temp agency I was treated by the supervisor like a little kid (1 class away from my masters, not someone off the street) and it infuriated me. So I can see that they're playing to the "LCD" and not the seasoned pros. They really need to clean up their act. The behavior of Alex and other staff on this very board last year speaks volumes as to "quality assurance". I barely even audition for TOS leads anymore either, more time spent on smaller potential returns....

True, but is T-Mobile limiting the number of calls you can make because you're not picky enough about who you talk to, and then giving those minutes to the new customers?

well, no. But that's a separate issue. The thing is, a lot of people are so upset that anything that V123 does now, even if it's an accepted marketing practice, is going to incur wrath. If we're looking at the free trial by itself, not such a big deal. If it's lumped in with everything else, bigger deal.

Good point Maxine. Let us know of the outcome if you should write 123 about this.

Regarding the relationship between V123 and Savvy: Several months ago, there used to be a link at the bottom of the page of the V123 site to enter Savvy. That link has since been removed. That doesn't mean they still don't lurk and read.

My quam with the SmartCast system is the same outcome we get if an audition is read or deleted. The audition should labeled as "read" or "deleted", but not marked as BOTH as a possibility.

I don't expect seekers to listen to 500 auditions, but it would be nice if we had the opportunity to audition more frequently and not be penalized for it. Esp since the few leads we do get don't even match our profiles.

Sincerely,

6' Tall, black man who sounds like James Earl Jones, ISO SBF who sounds like Oprah, willing to voice :30 TV ad for major market that pays $20.

That's still more information than Voices gives us.
