I fed your back at your original post in the Newbie section.
So I'll leave you alone here.

the last :80 or so narration, you really need to take off of this demo and move it over to a whole other demo...I don't really think the medical narration is your forte...there's lots of other kinds of things you can put in an industrial/narration demo....I would steer away from the medical stuff, you sound too young..
the problem with the first spot for me is you didn't really sound like you were engaging in real dialogue...I think you could have gone more over the top with it ... with your dialogue being responses to his dialogue....it sounds kind of flat now...
the editing needs to be sharper too..
overall though, you have a cool, kind of hip, in demand vocal quality...a little fine tuning of this demo and you should be on
your way!!

Lee, Thanks so much for your feedback. Great suggestions!
On that first spot (soup), my demo producer added his dialogue after my recording session -- so I guess it's no surprise that the spot doesn't work well or sound genuine.
I've asked that the medical narrative be removed.
Both you and Melba feel I sound too young for medical narratives/ads. Funny....I had been thinking it might be a niche for me 'cause I've been writing and editing medical materials for 20 years -- which also tells ya I really ain't so young after all.
Thank you again -- very much!
Lynda

| Voice age doesn't always have anything to do with chronology, though the voice tends to "settle" as we age. Your voice sounds "young" to us because it has little texture, is dynamically thin and relatively flat. Those aren't insults, by the way. Just a way of describing how your voice sounds. That sound does not lend itself to serious, authoritative, ugent or comforting, which are all common directives in the medical VO field. One of the keys to viability in VO is being able to hear, identify and accept your voice strengths and limitations.

that's kind of how I thought it was put together from the sound of it..
try recording it again, if you can, and see if you can get a feed of opposing dialogue in your headset to give you something to work off of when you are doing your spot....that way, you are not just coming out of nowhere with your dialogue, which is kind of what you are doing now and it has sort of an amateurish sound to it..
so that way, when you are going "over the top", you are going over the top for a very specific reason, in response to what your
partner is saying to you.. then I think that spot will really pop!!
