Look guys, I am not a spammer. I have a simple business here with a service that is valuable to the general voice talent population. We are having a special for a few weeks, and that is it. I have only posted to this forum twice, once to introduce my company, and now to let everyone know about the sale.
Freddie, If you think this is inappropriate please let me know and I will refrain from doing this again. I do not see the big difference between my post and the 'for sales' that are in this forum. We are all freelancers here.... |

| If this is spam, then you need to delete Campbell's nice post for Demo Services too. He is advertising the same kind of basic service that I am. And he got all positive comments....not to be defensive, but hey, let's play fair here. |

I complained about that too. You guys are only preying on beginners to make a fast buck. IMHO. But what the hell, its not my forum. Whatever dude....SPAM on!
How ironic...people complaining about not getting gigs on here because of low-balling, but doing $50 demos for beginners to create more competition! Savey? |

Victor,
I am sorry that you feel this way, but we are not a service for beginners. We are offering a premium service. Please check my post again.
My comparison to Mr. Campbells post is that we are both offering production services of one sort or another. That is all.
I am not encouraging more competition for bids by beginners. I am offering a premium service that can help the pros of us who get gigs are providing the customers with the best audio possible for IVR. It is a specialized genre, in which my partner and I have over 25 years combined experience. We have delivered over 2 MILLION voice prompts to our Fortune 500 customers, and would like to offer our services to everyone.
If you do not see the value in such a service, that is understandable. But I assure you, we are not catering to beginners as much as seasoned professionals. |

I'm sorry I caused such a stir. I am just a guy trying to generate some income for my family. Auditions weren't getting it done very well so I thought I'd throw out a production offer. I am not a "company," but just a dude with production skills. The thread title is SELLING AND BUYING, so I thought it was safe. I honestly didn't believe I'd have any takers, I had two so far. They were both happy and I turned around both in an hour or two. I would say that if you want to take Chuck's down, then by god take mine down too. I don't want to cause any trouble. I am just trying to make and honest buck. Any customers I have had in the past for both voice and production will tell you that I am "all over" customer servie and I always over-deliver.
Now Chuck... I think the wrath came down on you because of the commercial tone of your post. I am a frequent contributor on this forum and most know me and my production work so it didn't seem quite so "in your face" as your "ad."
If we can provide demos for folks at the fraction of what it would normally cost then we are providing a good service and as far as competition Victor, we compete with our talent. Some have more than others In fact being a helpful member of an industry often leads to more success. You become more well known and if you are known as the "guy who put that demo together" for another success, than don't you look like an even bigger pro than the guy you did the demo for? I don't see any success in paranoia. I see this as a place where we all help and support each other. When that help and support requires time, dedication and skill, I don't see a problem with a monetary agreement. But, that's just me. _________________ www.ColinCampbellVoice.com

I have to say that when I'm at the point of needing copy produced I will look to those people who have contributed by the example of their own work. Please don't take away these resources that are available and being offered, as you know I'm tech challenged, so having the opportunity to use someone elses forte will take the stress of having to edit and produce top quality files, leaving me time to concentrate on the copy.

SELLING AND BUYING is just that. I expect advertisements in this thread. The only criticism I would have is if the advertisements were unrelated to the industry and in the wrong thread. Oh, I also would be overly critical of repeating posts with the same message.
I do worry that real spammers will find this site and begin to abuse it. Thankfully, that has not happened.
Neither this post nor Colin's bug me.
Just my 2 cents......(a low ball rate)

My other cent:
The description for the forum is "The place to sell any type of recording and production tools." - Sounds like hardware and software to me, not services.
In any case, I'd like to feel I know a bit about the poster prior to getting a "SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY! BIG SAVINGS THIS WEEK ONLY!" post.
C'mon people, this is Chuck's first post on VOS, and it's a bit heavy handed and commercial for a user-based forum. That's the main difference for me between Chuck's post and Colin's. Colin is a frequent contributer elsewhere on the forums, and has posted his own VO work.
(insert standard "if it looks like a duck" comment here)
(steps off soap box).
I thank you for your time,
Joe |

Really I can see where you are all coming from. Maybe we just need a new heading "services for hire" obviously industry related. That way, you dont have to open the forum if it bothers you.
No, I dont need more Spam, have enough of my own to make everyone fritters, so maybe posts in services section can only be made by premium members.

It's hard to split hairs on the intention of a poster when he is offering services. I can't tell you though how humbled I am that you folks "take up" for me. This post of Chuck's looks more commercial and he is not a frequent poster but there are no real rules here. I have to take the high road and say if I can post for services who is to say he can't? You can't really have one without the other. If it's only premium members that get to do it, that'd be good, it's then a rule. In fact, I feel that only premium members should be able to post at all on this forum. Just my opinion. But in this context he is no different than me other than his flashy looking advert. Also, I want to make it CLEAR, I had NO IDEA who Chuck was until he PM'd me to tell me that he was getting criticised for spam. The first I ever heard of Chuck was AFTER his post and subsequent outcries. I just... say fair is fair. _________________ www.ColinCampbellVoice.com

Hello everyone,
This is quite a tricky road. Let me look in to what possibilities we have regarding these kind of postings and will let you know. |
