I have auditioned for over 100 jobs on this site and came close a few times, but still nothing.

Please feel free to be brutally honest.

See ya, Kevin R. Hoskins

Hey Kevin: I think anyone who has tried as hard as you have to compete on this directory deserves some assistance. I may not be the one to give the best advice as I have only begun bidding on voice 123 recently. I am not an experienced voiceover guy, but I have been a radio/tv news anchor for 25 years... so here's what I think you should work at. Enunciations. Carefully examine your demo to see if there aren't some corners to be rounded... you know, proper finishing touches on words. Secondly, I believe your voiceovers need to reflect a greater understanding (empathy) of the messages being conveyed.
These are both things that can be improved with continued hard work and that's something you appear to have in spades. My remarks are meant only in the spirit in which they were solicited.
Good Luck

Kevin, I agree with the comments by Darrell, but I'd go farther and say the demo just sounds flat to me. There's no energy whatsoever and no variation in the demo. You read well, but it DOES sound like you're just reading. I've submitted for a ton of jobs here, too, and gotten a handful, but more often than not I have NOT gotten the jobs because you and I are both up against some killer talents here, but the good news is we can learn from them. More and more nowdays clients are looking for a REAL voice, not necessarily that great announcer voice. You have more of a real voice, with the potential for being believable, but you're a long way from being there. I'd honestly recommend an investment in some classes to get trained. Believe me, it'll pay off for you.

I'm attaching my own 'real 'n' natural' demo, which ain't the greatest, but perhaps it'll help.

Go listen to a bunch of demos on this site by some of the truly great talents out there, invest in some classes, and best of luck to you!

Thanks for your feedback! I really appreciate it! Just one thing, though. By "enunciation" do you mean there is a problem with my pronounciation?

I hope some more people will add their two cents as well.

Everything sounds the same. What really struck me was that there was no way to tell that there was a change from the DVD thing to the water cut...the sound was exactly the same. Same pace, same pace, same amount of notes in your scale. It sounded like one sentence ended and a new one began.

Variety in product/subject, pacing, attitude, mic proximity, EQ, music and SFX - that's what you need to look for in your copy quest.

Thanks for your 2 pesos, Paxton! It is becoming very clear that I need to add some umph to my delivery.

I would like to hear some more comments regarding my strengths and weaknesses.

Thanks again for everyone's time!
