You're such a spoil-sport, Amy.
I was just about to approach you about some of those tongue-placement tips you've been advertising....

When a regular poster here makes a couple of posts offering to do some work to make extra money, it's a lot different than someone with a v.o. school or program or other formal business.

We know that no matter how liberal a policy might be established for hawking wares, V123 won't let another annual fee online community within 100 yards of these boards. So wheere then do we draw the line?

I honestly don't know how this could be done with any true level of integrity since so many of us have diffrering agendas. My feeling is that as a working professional I don't need people hawking beginnng voice books around here. My personal agenda would be to try and create an environment on V123 that was more enticing to professional talent and proffesional job seekers.

I think that the level of current offerings seems appropriate, but that this can and should be something that is policed. I think that many of us can produce demos and/or otherwise have services that can support other actors. It's not my intent to hang around anything that starts resembling the home shopping network.

There already is a buy/ sell forum. Anyone who wants to sell services can post there, and if it gets out of hand, then yank the plug. If this is first and foremost a place to come and get work opportunites then I say to have a formal policy to allow it is not something I support.

I just don't want to lose the sense of community that is here. For the most part, all help and advice is free.

If you are going to open the gate, it should be pretty open.

I agree with most of the others that it sould be related to the voice community.

But we should still be free to blast someone who is in your face aboout it.

We already have a "buy/sell" forum. Why not limit it to postings there?

That's the thing that confuses me about the whole controversy to start with. Chuck posted his services in the Buy Sell section, and it is a service relevant to the members of our community.

I just read through the whole thread that started this mess. Sorry - I don't spend much time in that section of the forum. Which is kind of my point now. If you ain't interested in the topic - don't read it. If somebody wants to buy production services from Colin, fine by me. If you want IVR editing/processing it sounds like Chuck might be a resource. I don't want or need an Mbox USB whatchamajigger - so I don't read those posts. Life is too short - flush it and move on.

I say YES. It would be great to make a seperate forum for people who would like to solicit services such as producing demos. If there's a dedicated area then only those seeking such services will see the solicitation. It would also be a great way for beginners to work with pros and gain valuable knowledge. It opens up a huge opportunity for networking among the talents on this site as well. Obviously voice123 would not have any legal obligation to the transactions for the services just as they don't for payment of our leads. There's always the buyer/seller beware and that can't be changed but shouldn't pose a threat to opening up to this idea. If it were an issue stopping voice123 from having a dedicated forum, then voice123 might as well shut itself down. So let's do this!

And if you're wondering who ripped the big ol stinker this morning... IT WAS MEEEEEEE!!! I posted both in the Newbie and voice over Idol forums because I figured people who need the most help would see my message. A dedicated forum would be the professional way as I even had 2nd thoughts about posting my messages. Freddie!? What's going to happen?!

I voted yes, but agree it's best limited to the Buy Sell forum unless it's really on point with another thread. So far, I haven't seen anything that struck me as reaching to stay on topic and still offer a service. I don't think I'd limit solicitation offers to premium members. I'll defer to the majority on that, but I'd hate to exclude newer members from opportunities to generate revenues so they can afford memberships and participate in auditions. It's true that would increase my competition, but then I'm a glutton for punishment. Wink

I have no problem with it, but agree with others who've mentioned it, that we need to make sure it stays in its own category, like "Marketplace", with plenty of rules and regs.

Actually, it's just going to make for a lot of work (and policing) for you Freddie -
