This is how Clear Channel and the others put staff people on the street and their GM's in Jaguars. Fire all those pesky staffers (always wanting benefits and stuff like that for their "families".) Hire a talent at a low retainer, have them voice stuff for a half-hour, plug it into the computer and they've got their station "staffed" for the next few days. Makes for great listening, too..let me tell you.(not)

Anyway, Kathleen...if it's one of the radio conglomerates, don't expect to be paid what you're worth. Don't let them steal it from you, because THEY WILL!

Maybe off thread a little here, but I'd be curious how many in our ranks are Clear Channel casualties. Seems I hear from at least three a year locally who are "going into the voiceover business"...sigh, GREAT!

I was in a weather broadcast business that was screwed over by them recently. Nothing like giving them bargain basement rates with the promise of future business, then.........nadda.

Hi Cameron,

They (and others) have such a bad reputation - and they deserve it.

Hey, you're a weatherguy, huh? That happens to be one of my hobbies. I run a little weather station that the locals seem to appreciate.

I do it just for fun. Looks like you've made it a career!

Didn't mean to hijack this thread - sorry folks.

Sounds like radio or TV.

Hey Allen, nice weather page! I have a Davis weather station that I used to have online from my home. Same here, the locals really got into it and hit it pretty hard, especially on bad weather days. Unfortunately, the anemometer and rain bucket were casualties of the local wildlife (squirrels). I just haven't replaced them. I'm holding out for a wireless Davis system later.

Allen

Well, it is Radio Imaging for an Easy Listening Station. Apparently they would like a daily tracker and some updates on promos and ids over the term of the deal. Obviously, I am not a rap talent!

I submitted a custom demo, so I have not been offered anything so far.

The legitimacy of the request is still in question. Research on the company has shown the group to appear credible. But, that's not too hard to do on the internet.

Thank you all for your input. Right now, its a wait and see deal.

If they steal my work, at least I learned something through the experience and will be better equipped for this situation for the next opportunity that comes along.

Pray
